I Roto I Te Poo, I Roto I Te Aoo A3 Art Print

"I Roto I Te Poo, I Roto I Te Ao" means "In The Darkness, In The Light" and is the first of two special collaborations between Em-Haley Kūkūtai Walker (aka alternative-folk artist Theia) and Whanganui-based ringatoi Jacqui Broughton (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Muaūpoko). 

This A3 artwork is a limited edition, printed in small runs on 350gsm Conqueror laid textured linen card. It depicts the ever-present protection and bond we have with our tūpuna (ancestors), which can never be severed, in life and in death. The title of the artwork and the titonga (composition) itself are written in Em-Haley's tribal mita (dialect), which honours double vowels instead of macrons. May this mahi toi be welcomed into your space as a kaitiaki (guardian) as it is intended.
